Νικόλας Παπαγεωργίου – Τύμπανα-Κρουστά
Ο Νικόλας Παπαγεωργίου φοίτησε στο Guildhall School of Music
and Drama του Λονδίνου (1993-97), και ακολούθησε
μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές (εκτέλεση κρουστών) στο Sweelinck
Conservatorium του Άμστερνταμ (1997-98). Από το 1999 κατέχει
τη θέση του κορυφαίου τυμπάνων στην Κρατική Ορχήστρα Κύπρου.
Εμφανίζεται συχνά σε ρεσιτάλ και συναυλίες μουσικής δωματίου,
με ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον για τα κρουστά ως όργανο μουσικής
δωματίου. Με την ΚΟΚ έχει εμφανιστεί σαν σολίστ στην πρώτη
εκτέλεση κονσέρτου για κρουστά στην Κύπρο. Έχει επίσης
συνεργαστεί με τον Θεατρικό Οργανισμό Κύπρου, και με το
πειραματικό χοροθέατρο Echo Arts.
Ο κ. Παπαγεωργίου έχει ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον για τη διδασκαλία
των κρουστών. Είναι καθηγητής κρουστών στο Εθνικό Ωδείο
Κύπρου, καθώς και στο πρόγραμμα υποτροφιών του Υπουργείου
Παιδείας και Πολιτισμού. Είναι επίσης εκπαιδευτής κρουστών της
Κρατικής Ορχήστρας Νέων Κύπρου.
Nicolas Papageorgiou – Timpani and Percussion
Nicolas Papageorgiou studied at the Guildhall School of Music
and Drama in London (1993-97), followed by postgraduate
studies in percussion performance at the Amsterdam
Conservatoire (Sweelinck Conservatorium) (1997-98). He is,
since 1999 Principal Timpanist of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra.
He regularly appears as recitalist and chamber musician, with a
particular interest in percussion as a chamber music instrument.
He has also appeared, as a soloist with the Cyprus Symphony
orchestra, in the first ever performance of a percussion concerto in
Cyprus. He has on several occasions collaborated with the
National Theatre of Cyprus, including the Athens Festival at
ancient Epidaurus, and with the experimental Dance/Theatre
Group Echo Arts.
Mr. Papageorgiou is committed to the teaching of percussion. He
is professor of percussion at the Ethnikon Odeion, Cyprus, as well
as for the Minisrty of Education and Culture’s scholarship scheme.
He is also percussion tutor for the Cyprus State Youth Orchestra.
