Kelly Alijani

Kelly was born in Aberystwyth, Wales . Her interest in music began
at an early age on piano and after deciding to be a musician she
began playing the French horn at the age of eleven.

Whilst studying at the Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama
in London , she won the Walsall Young Musician of the Year. In her
final year at the JGSMD she won the Brass prize and then went on
to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. While she
was at GSMD she completed her Bmus degree course and
attained her Licentiate of GSMD whilst studying with Hugh
Seenan, Jeff Bryant, Anthony Halstead and Richard Bissil. During
her time at the GSMD Kelly was part of the LSO scheme and
played under conductors including Sir Colin Davis, Mark Elder,
Christopher Seaman and soloists including Yo-yo Ma, Dudley
Moore, Peter Donohoe and Nigel Kennedy.

In 1998 she attended the Royal Academy of Music in London, to
study for her Postgraduate Diploma of Orchestral Training where
she also attained a Licentiate of RAM (which she completed in
one year) studying with Derek Taylor, Richard Watkins, Michael
Thompson and Pip Eastop.

Since completing her studies Kelly has been principal of The
Borusan Philharmonic Orchestra and has been a member of
numerous orchestras including the British Rock Symphony on their
US tour, the Sutton Coldfield Chamber Orchestra and the Trinity
Players working with many other orchestras as a freelance
musician. Kelly has been a member of the Cyprus State Orchestra
since September 2001 and is currently Principal Horn working with
soloists including Placido Domingo and Vladimir Ashkenazy.

Kelly is also a member of the Cyprus Brass Quartet and enjoys a
very hectic teaching schedule in Cyprus for the English School and
the Youth Orchestra Scholarship Scheme. She finds arranging
music for the wind orchestra and brass ensemble she directs an
enjoyable challenge and misses having the time to continue writing
her own music.

Kelly is also treasurer and web-designer for the Musicians' Guild of
the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra (SYMESOK) and likes to take an
active role in the life of the orchestra.

Kelly's Licentiates qualify her to teach brass and horn and she is
very interested in new students as she loves teaching. For lessons
