Ewa Bartmann

Ewa Monika Bartmann began her musical education at the age of eight
years old. She studied the violin with J. Nassalska and E. Gregorowicz. In
the State Music School of First Degree in Warsaw, Poland, Ewa finished
with a distinction and entered the State Music School. During this time
Ewa was also attending the Primary and Secondary Schools of General
Education which she finished in 1990.

After seven years of violin classes with A. Kacperczyk she took her
diploma and got an excellent mark. She finished violin studies with
distinction and became a professional violinist. Trying to learn more
about string instruments, Ewa studied the viola and realized that her
calling was with this beautiful and charming instrument.
In 1992 she began studying at the Fr. Chopin Academy in Warsaw with
M. Marczyk, the principal viola player of the National Philharmonic in
Warsaw.

The years of 1994 and 1995 Ewa Bartmann studied in Holland in Utrecht
Conservatory of Music with R Ephrat, principal viola player of Rotterdam
Philharmonic.

In 1997, Ewa completed her studies in Fr. Chopin Academy in Warsaw
and was awarded a Master of Arts Degree with excellence.
During her violin and viola studies she actively participated in music
courses which included tours in Poland, to Germany and Switzerland.
These courses also contained master classes with famous teachers and
performers. Between 1989 and 1991 Ewa participated in the
International Courses of Music Interpretation in Lancut, Poland, with B.
Kotorowicz, L. Dwarionas and Z. Brzewski.

Summer 1993, Ewa was invited to be a member of the Orchestra of
Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Germany. She played under Sir G.
Soli, V. Georgiev and S. Bychkov. In the same year she attended master
classes with B. Westphal in Germany, J. Kosmala in Poland and in 1995
with R. Golani in Holland. During her studies Ewa's mentor was S.
Kamasa.

In 1999 Ewa participated as a student in the Dartington International
Summer Music Course, Great Britain. The following summer Ewa was
invited to Dartington as a coach and a performer.

In the summers of 2000 to 2002 Ewa was a viola and a chamber music
teacher in the International Chamber Music Workshops in Pulawy,
Poland.

As a student, Ewa had played many times as a solo and chamber
musician but since Ewa began collaborating with the excellent Polish
pianist Agata Jozwik in 1998, she performs regularly. They have
performed in Great Britain (2004,2005), FYROM (2001), Bulgaria (2004)
and Syria (2005) amongst other places.

Between 1997 and 1999 Ewa was performing solos as a member of
Chamber Stage of the National Philharmonic of Warsaw giving around
200 concerts a year.

In 2000 she performed in a chamber ensemble and took part in the
International Festival of Contemporary Music 'The Warsaw Autumn'.
From 1993 Ewa was working with great symphonic orchestras.  During
1993 to 1998 she was a permanent member of Das Philharmonie der
Nationen (Germany), conducted by J. Franz. In 1997 she worked with the
Orchestra Sinfonia Helvetica conducted by G. Nowak touring Spain. She
collaborated with many Polish orchestras, the most notable being the
Polish Radio Orchestra, Concerto Avenna and the National Philharmonic
of Warsaw. From 1998 to 2001 Ewa was continually freelancing with
Sinfonia Varsovia.

As an orchestral musician Ewa has worked with conductors and soloists
including: Sir Yehudi Menuhin, V, Ashkenazy, Anna-Sophie Mutter, K.
Zimmerman, K. Pendercki, Y. Sokolov, M. Vengerov, V. Repin,
M.Rostopovich, S.Meyer, Sisters Labeques, K. A. Kulka and many others.
With different orchestras Ewa has travelled and played in the USA,
Japan, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Holland, Denmark,
Finland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Russia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Czech Republic,
Slovakia, Italy, Spain, France and Greece. She has experienced playing
in some of the most beautiful concert halls in the world like Carnegie
Hall, Frankfurt Opera, the Philharmonie in Munich, the Grand Theatre of
the Liceo in Barcelona and the Hall of Moskow Conservatory.

Since 2001 Ewa Bartmann has been a member of the Cyprus State
Orchestra becoming Principal Viola in 2003.

Ewa actively takes part in many musical events that take place in Cyprus
including Kypriaka (2002), Spring Concerts 2003 and A Concert For
Europe 2004. She is also very dedicated to her pedagogical activities.
Since 2001 she has been coaching the Cyprus State Youth Orchestra
and teaching violin and viola as part of the scholarship program of the
Ministry of Education and Culture. In 2002 she joined the faculty at Arte
Academy of Music.

Whilst in Cyprus Ewa has recorded two CDs. One was with the violinist
Peter Sulski and the other with the pianist Agata Jozwik. She also
regularly records for Cyprus Radio (PIK).

Ewa used to play a viola by Fr. Mardula (top picture on the right) and her
new viola by the same man is called Polonia Nova (bottom picture on the
right).

Among Ewa's many talents she also speaks many languages including
Polish (her native language), English, Russian and Greek.
